Two Worlds
Growing up, I straddled two worlds—two cultures, two sets of expectations, and two contrasting ways of seeing life and leadership. My Middle Eastern heritage gave me a profound sense of connection—close-knit communities, deep family bonds, and a rich history of tradition. At the same time, I was immersed in the fast-paced, individualistic culture of the U.S., which valued ambition and forward-thinking. These dual influences shaped my identity, my relationships, and how I navigated the world.
The Road Less Traveled
For much of my life, I felt like I was standing at a crossroads, searching for the right path. I knew I wanted to make a difference, to help others feel seen, understood, and empowered. But I also knew my journey wouldn’t follow a conventional route.
I began my career in financial services, quickly labeled as a “high-potential” employee at just 23. My leadership journey exposed me to leaders at all levels—from frontline to C-Suite. But I struggled with the unspoken rules of success, which demanded conformity to a specific mold. It felt unnatural, as if I were a robot malfunctioning in a system that didn’t fit me.
I now understand how organizational culture impacts mental health. Many, especially women, didn’t align with the culture and left in waves. While I wrestled with these challenges, I began uncovering my gifts for perception and intuitive decision-making. However, my deep empathy and sensitivity—attuning to emotions, energy, sounds, and lights—often left me drained. I realized that to thrive, I needed to manage my energy carefully.
This self-awareness led me to leave finance and pursue a doctorate in leadership, determined to make sense of my experiences and better understand the challenges I saw in corporate America.
In Search of Answers
Balancing full-time work and study was grueling, especially in a toxic work culture rife with change management struggles. At times, I numbed myself with food to cope. Two things kept me grounded: my coaches and my research.
“When the student is ready the teacher will appear.” ― Tao Te Ching
My first coach appeared when I was 18 and my second coach appeared at 30. My coaches guided me inward, helping me understand who I am and where my strengths lie. My studies deepened my knowledge of leadership, human behavior, and potential. I became particularly drawn to creative leadership, self-awareness, and the gifts of highly sensitive people. I learned how creativity, play, and emotional regulation could help us overcome limiting beliefs and design a fulfilling life.
Healing Journey Of My Origin Story
My journey has shown me that true growth requires holistic support—physical, emotional, and spiritual. Mentors, coaches, and teachers play a vital role in helping us focus our energy, avoid unnecessary struggles, and attract the right opportunities in work, relationships, and life.
Over two decades of growth.
Over a decade of accepting support.
Over a decade of learning, teaching, and practicing methods to prevent burnout and cultivate self-leadership.
I’ve healed traumas, insecurities, and addictions. I’ve rediscovered what was lost and found my true self.
Through setbacks and successes, I’ve learned what it means to find authentic happiness—not just for myself but for others. My story is still unfolding, but one truth is clear: the world needs more empathetic, authentic, and empowered leaders. My mission is to help others unlock that within themselves.
